M&Co evaluation

My window displays before and after the presentation with Kolorcraft.

I have changed the window displays significantly to help create a better laid out and effective window. Both now have the M&Co logo added to them to create the effect of a store.

The Womens one has a added platform with the models being put in line on the platform to give the impression of a catwalk. With the colourscheme and backdrop being the same. The Mens one had the platforms removed with with backdrops added of the same repeated graphic as I thought it was bright and expressed the trend well and the models standing in sync with the graphics. Both these windows will be easy and cheap to create so follows with the M&Co specifications.

To add the “Sale” sign on the bottom the image had to be exported as 2D graphic as a JPEG then imported into illustrator. Then exported again ready for print and for the web. Overall, I am happy with the way the windows turn out but could of done with adding more detail.

Yet again my blog won’t let me upload photos so I have to do it via Flickr.

Here are a selection of screen shots of mock ups on Google SketchUp and progress of my work. As I haven’t used it before it took me a while to get the gist of it but once I did I found it relatively easy.

The hardest bit was figuring out how to apply backgrounds onto our products, and add mannequins and platforms. Was a long day messing around with it I can tell you that! I messed around with different layouts and positioning of the mannequins to see what was more effective and with tints on the windows to see what effect they give to the product. I had to take into consideration that it was for M&Co so we didn’t want anything elaborate.

Here is a photo of our class presentation of our work for M&Co for Design Foundry and Kolorcraft. After seeing everybody elses I know mines need massive improvements to make the windows more effective.
They gave us very constructive criticism which I will take on board, to try and create a more better laid out window.

M&Co VM Project

We were given the opportunity to work with industry experts Design Foundry and Kolorcraft and create two store window displays for economy high street chain M&Co for Spring/Summer 2013.

We had to research into Topshops store windows and what techniques they use to produce well designed windows. I then researched into Peacocks window displays as they are on the same market level as M&Co.

I then researched what trends would be in season for Spring/ Summer 2013 through using MPD Click, and chose to use New Renaissance for my womenswear display and Avant Garde trend for my menswear display.

(my board’s won’t load onto my blog so I have had to put them on my Flickr then link to blog - sorry!)

Here are my final three shots for my editorial shoot. I have tried to experiment with the layouts to try and get different effects.

Choosing a Vogue editorial was quite hard because they tend to be quite sleek and very well done with everything being very perfect. I think one of the hardest parts was choosing the typeface for the text. Slightly strange but it is one thing that frustrates me when the text isn’t nice because fonts are the thing that can make a thing great or rubbish. After endless hours of going through many typefaces on Abobe InDesign I finally choose to use Modern No. 20 as I thought it was fitting and classic. I also played around with the layout and experimented with slugs/ bleeds.

It took me hours to do, but such a relief to get them done! Happy with my end result and I think the model (Abigail Messenger) looks stunning in the photos. I think the show off the accessories well and fits in with other stuff that Vogue has produced.

Here are some of my editorials that I have done on Adobe InDesign, I got the images from a previous styling shoot we did with the photography students last semester. We were then given the brief to do create a editorial shoot that would be suitable for a issue of Vogue. Here are two of my work pieces in progress.
